Greenville Metals (GMI) is a unique metallurgical resource in the management of nickel and cobalt base super-alloys. The company transforms revert, through many techniques including electric arc furnace, AOD, and induction furnaces, into forms including ingots, pigs, and shot. Greenville Metals provides customers with a range of tailored revert management services designed to enable them to optimize the use and value of their own revert material.

The company is also in the business of powder manufacturing for the automotive industry utilizing various crushing, grinding and sizing equipment.

SUMMARY
To manage the daily operations of the Lab and its personnel. Development of staff and analytical methodologies and capabilities to assure support to production areas and meeting customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Understands and follows all safety procedures, including personal protective equipment, for him/herself and lab staff.
Reports all accidents, near misses, equipment damage, etc. promptly.
Lead investigations of causes for analytical variation and work with customers on any technical issues as required.
Addresses corrective and preventive actions for internal audits, customer audits, customer complaints, etc.
Develop methods and write, review, revise and implement internal laboratory procedures. Responsible for training Lab Personnel on all internal procedures/processes including: sample/standard preparation, analytical methodologies and reporting techniques, etc. for element compositions and concentration levels required to support GMI s business. This will include continuous work towards lower detection limits.
Maintain quality documentation, records and process information in accordance to GMI s ISO 9001 needs.
Conduct periodical coaching sessions fostering employee development along with goal-driven annual employee evaluations.
Outline a course of action for all capex requests for the laboratory to support GMI s future business needs.
Collect, analyze and report environmental compliance samples according to established requirements.
Maintain GMI s analytical equipment and assure PM schedules are met and documented by the analysts.
Schedule all routine calibrations, preventive maintenance, and repair work for instrumentation from outside vendors in accordance with GMI s approved service contracts.
Identify and implement continuous improvements that will enhance company safety, quality, productivity, and cost goals per the PCC code of Conduct.
Capable of performing, interpreting, explaining and implementing statistical analysis.
Qualified auditor for ISO 9000 and SOX auditing.
Strive to nurture a work environment to meet all health and safety requirements.
Plan laboratory workload and personnel scheduling based on weekly production plans. Adjust to weekly plan as needed to maintain production.
Order Laboratory supplies and maintain a critical parts/consumable parts.
Maintain quality documentation and processes with accordance to GMI s ISO 9001 needs.
Performs work in accordance with the PCC Code of Conduct and SOX compliance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
4 yrs. technical degree in related field ( analytical chemistry, environmental science, chemical engineering or metallurgy)
8-10 yrs. of industry experience in a laboratory environment.
NADCAP experience preferred.
Formal training in one or more of the industry-recognized quality systems (e. g. military, aerospace, QS9000, ISO 9000) is desired.
COMPETENCIES
Ability to manage a moderate size analytical laboratory with a broad range of analytical techniques and compositions.
Strong computer and statistical analysis skills.
Excellent problem solving and planning skills.
Effective communication skills both oral and written and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Lean concepts such as 5 Whys, 5S, PDCA, Poka yoke, TPM, etc.
Understanding of the Quality Management System in effect at Greenville Metals, Inc. is a must.
Thorough knowledge of customer quality specifications, safety processes, and company policies and procedures.
Must be team oriented.
High level of self-motivation to perform and succeed with the ability to organize, coordinate and track multiple projects.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work effectively for himself and the department.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
